Oh my giddy aunt
You think that you’ve heard it all, that he bottom of the barrel has been reached. And then you find out that it keeps getting worse.
Another investigation has been launched in the wake of the expenses scandal after allegations that House of Commons officials allowed an MP to reclaim mortgage interest payments he was no longer paying.
It’s not just the MPs, it’s even the officials conspiring with them!

I don’t think anyone knows where the ‘bottom of the barrel’ is! It is fact that the EU have failed to have their annual accounts signed off by their auditors for some years now - and when will we see a list of MEPs expenses published, or will the EU block that?
I know of a newly elected MEP who tried to put his first airline ticket [Tourist Class] to Brussels in his expenses and was told he couldn’t claim it as they only reimbursed for Business Class!
I know of another who when questioned about his reasons for standing as an MEP said ‘It will be the making of me - at the end of 5 years if I don’t continue I get £100,000!!!
But one has to ask how far into the system this rotten apple feature has spread. Are the Civil Service really ‘white as white’? Can we have a look at their expenses too. - and what about all those Quangos milking the system for working 1 day a month etc - we should see their expenses too.
In watching the House of Commons this afternoon, frankly I’m not surprised many politicians don’t take their jobs seriously. Having worked in the Private sector for my life any meeting would have been suspended if the attendees had chatted amongst themselves whilst the meeting was in progress, to the extent that I couldn’t hear what some of the MPs were actually saying.
I voted ‘Yes’ in 1975 to Britain joining the Common Market because we were lead to believe that it would be ‘good for jobs and good for the economy’ - they lied to us if you look where we are today! Now UKIP have a fuller manifesto having read it that is where my vote will be.
I just wish UKIP had added 1. a freeze on further recruitment for state paid employees’ 2. A freeze or reduction in the salaries of state paid employees 3. A break in the link between the pensions of state employees and the cost of living [like Mrs Thatcher introduced for the rest of us] 4. a full Basic single person’s state pension for those of us who stayed at home to look after our children and therefore do not have the required number of working years to qualify - whereas today’s mothers are protected with some kind of home responsibility points that will give them a full basic state pension even if they don’t have the required number of working years to qualify.

I had intended to vote UKIP at the EU Elections in June - UNTIL - I heard Bob Spink MP seeking plaudits for the now defunct Speaker Martin.
That did for me!!………..now I have to find another canditate to vote for.

Jack,
Bob Spink MP is NOT a UKIP MP! He now sits as an Independent and, indeed, he has never actually been a UKIP Party Member. I understand he was given a Membership card but he never actually paid a subscription.

Good show!
I hope the situation does not change. In all probability he will be looking for a seat at the next General Election and hopefully UKIP will not entertain him.
